PREFACE

Furniture is an important part to designing spaces because it can really affect a space visually and spatially.  Furniture can be expressive to any space and really pulls the whole space together.

CHILDREN'S FURNTIURE LINE

Designed to be fun and interactive, the furniture line was inspired by the famous designer and author Dr. Seuss, based off of the color themes, story characters, and disproportionate shapes that can be seen throughout many of the fictional books.

Through the aesthetic feel and appeal the furniture pieces become fun while being comfortable.  They allow children to enter the world of Dr. Seuss further than just the image sin a book.  Each piece is made to allow for movement and comfort, taking characters off the pages and letting them be feasible and interactive with children.

THE LETTER CHAIR

Life size and 100% stable, this chair has been constructed out of all cardboard.  My team and I designed this chair by studying anthropomorphism.  We wanted to create something that was comfortable, versatile, and modern.  This lounge chair can seat up to two people and the ottoman can be stored in the chair when not needed.  Making the letters a, b, c, or d from the shape of the arms and sides we thought fit to give the name "The Letter Chair"

THE JELLYFISH

Experience the sensation of floating without actually being in water.  This chair takes form of a delicate creature and plays with the form and function.

*creating a sensation of floating

*taking something delicate and making it durable

*abstracting the form what a chair should be and making unrealistic

*light fixture designed after The Jellyfish chair

*Inspiration:

--Jellyfish have a kind of electricity to them, they have tentanles that sting

--wanted to show this electricity through light
